2025 Updates in VEET regulations and Compliance

Updates to the regulations and compliance procedures through the VEU program in 2025.

New VEU Requirements for 2025

The Government has updated a number of the VEET regulations and compliance requirements that apply from the 1st February 2025, for both Air-conditioners and Heat Pump Activities.

If you’re a tradie utilising rebates and incentives within the VEU program, you’ll need to be aware of these changes. New Minimum Co Payments

 

  • Minimum payment by customer of $200 (including GST) for water heaters, and single split air-conditioners up to 10kw.
  • Minimum payment by customer of $1,000 (including GST) for single split air-conditioners over 10kw, and all multi-head and ducted air-conditioning systems.
  • Where a water heater or a single split system under 10kw is installed alongside a multi-head or ducted system, the minimum co – payment is a combination of both, therefore $1,200 must be collected.

Minimum payments must be receipted by your company before jobs are submitted to Energy Makeovers for certificate creation.

New Decommissioning Evidence Requirements

To support the new decommissioning fields, two questions have been added:

1 – Please select the decommissioning method for the existing air conditioner:

  • Removal of the control board / internal wiring components
  • Destruction of the product’s casing/other components rendering the product permanently unusable
  • Removal of ductwork
  • Other: What ‘other’ method did you use to decommission this existing air conditioner?

2 – Please select the decommissioning method for the existing heater

Minimum payments must be receipted by your company before jobs are submitted to for certificate creation.

New Size Record Form for Multi – Split Systems

The new form has two sections, Existing and Upgrade. This represents the existing baseline products, vs the new upgraded products.

The Existing is populated from the new questions:

The following questions for each room (with x being the room number) will then be required to be answered:

  1. Existing Room x Description
  2. What is the Area (m2) heated/cooled by existing product in room x
  3. What is the heating capacity (kw) of the existing indoor unit in room x?
