Under the Victorian Government’s VEU program to encourage homeowners to adopt more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly upgrades, they have included heat pump hot water systems. Unlike the LED offers and energy monitor schemes, this residential offer is not 100% free, but enables the Victorian resident eligible for a rebate of 50% or up to $1000 off the cost of purchasing and installing a new heat pump hot water system.

To be eligible for Victoria’s Heat Pump Rebate in 2024, you need to be the occupier-owner of the property. Unfortunately, this means that renters are currently ineligible. If you’re renting your property and you think it could benefit from an upgrade, we would recommend you speak to your landlord or agency to discuss the benefits and whether it’s a solution they would be interested in taking advantage of.

Who is Eligible for a Government Rebated Hot Water System in Victoria in 2024?

The following are the eligibility requirements, to assess if you’re eligible for the Victorian Heat Pump Rebate in 2024: 

  • You are the owner-occupier for the applicable property 
  • The combines household taxable income is less than $210,000 
  • The property is valued at less than $3 million 
  • The property has not had a solar battery or Hot Water Rebate previously 
  • The Hot Water System being replaced is more than 3 years old
