Energy Makeovers launches new website
We’ve bitten the bullet and launched our new website, which we think does a much better of showing all of the ways in which we can help you be more energy efficient.
One of the most exciting recent developments is the dawn of a new era in lighting. For over 100 years electric lights hadn’t changed much since Thomas Edison, founder of GE, invented the first practical light bulb in 1879.
Now LED lighting has become an effective and efficient replacement for old-style incandescent globes. We’re moving from disposable light bulbs that were cheap, short-lived and inefficient to long-lived, efficient LED lights.
Old lights were cheap to buy but very expensive to run. Quality LED lights cost more upfront but will last year after year. The savings in electricity will pay for themselves many times over.
Choosing LED lights also substantially reduces the need for fossil fuel generated electricity. Replacing just 20 halogen down lights with efficient LED lights delivers the same reduction in greenhouse gases as permanently removing 6 cars off the road!
