To be eligible, the water heater being replaced must not be a solar boosted or heat pump water heater. However, we can replace solar boosted and heat pump water heaters without the benefit of subsidies provided by the ESS. All prices are based on ESS and RET eligibility. A minimum co-payment of $33 is required be eligible for the NSW Energy Saving Scheme (ESS). A $300 surcharge may apply to homes in ‘cold zones’.

Am I eligible for the hot water system discount in NSW?
To be eligible for this discount, the hot water system being replaced in your home must be either an electric or gas hot water system.
However, we can also replace your instantaneous or solar hot water system outside of the NSW Energy Saving Scheme (ESS). All prices are based on ESS eligibility. A $300 surcharge may apply to homes in ‘cold zones’.
How do heat pumps work?
A hot water heat pump works exactly the same way your air condition split system does to warm up your house:
1. A fan in your outdoor unit will draw surrounding air.
2. The heat in the air is absorbed by a refrigerant flowing within the unit transferring the heat from the air to the water in the water tank providing your hot water.
And yes, our range of hot water heat pumps also work in winter as the refrigerant has an anti-freeze that prevents it from freezing.
Why is a hot water heat pump energy efficient?
In comparison to other systems, such as an electric boiler, they use less electricity since heat pumps transfer heat as opposed to generating it. This can reduce carbon emissions and reach efficiency levels close to 600% (meaning they deliver up to 6 times as much energy as they consume).
What size heat pump will I need?
We recommend:
200 lt unit for 1-2 people
220 lt unit for 2-4 people
280 lt unit for 4+ people

What is the warranty period on a hot water heat pump?
Our hot water heat pump range comes with a 5-year product warranty, and Energy Makeovers offers a 2-year labour warranty. However, product warranties may change based on suppliers so we recommend you to check the Midea and Emerald websites for the most up-to-date information.
