Earlier this year the City of Glen Eira contracted Energy Makeovers to supply free energy saving upgrades (compact fluorescent lights, water-efficient showerheads, chimney balloons, door seals, etc) to their residents.
The local Council advertises the program through local publications, website and events. Energy Makeovers undertakes the installations.
Glen Eira’s Energy Saving program
The City of Glen Eira has a large population of elderly residents, and it’s important that, through the colder months of winter,they’re protected from the chilly temperatures with well-insulated homes, all without having to spend their hard-earned pensions on excessive heating, water and lighting bills.
The products are available at no charge because the installation of these products qualify for the creation of VEEC under the Government’s Victorian Energy Efficiency Target program. Energy Makeovers is registered to create VEEC from eligible activities under this program which they then sell to energy retailers in order to be able to offer the products and installation to you for free.
Please note: As of 1st February 2023, FREE Lighting upgrades are no longer available for Victorian homes. This is in accordance with the Victorian Energy Upgrades program (VEU).
