If you run, manage or own a business that utilises large space like a warehouse or storage facility, you’ll probably be aware that businesses around Victoria using highbays are eligible for free upgrades to LED. But, what if you already have highbay LEDs?
It’s not just metal halide highbays that are eligible for a commercial lighting free upgrade to LED. Did you know older generation style LED highbays are also eligible for a free upgrade to LED through the VEU program? That’s right! Even some LEDs are eligible for an upgrade to a later generation of LED.
In fact, here’s a handy list of all lighting that’s eligible for the free upgrade in commercial properties around Victoria:

LED technology has moved on and more efficient lights are now available. They require a lower wattage to run, which will reduce your energy costs and they last longer. That’s why they’re included in the VEU program for a free upgrade.
You can see from this handy chart just how much LED highbays have improved over time.
On the left side are the watts used and each column indicates how many lumens the globe will supply for that energy consumption. So, we have gone from 70 watts supplying 5,590 lumens in an old metal halide highbay to the same energy supplying 15,400 lumens in the latest generation of LED highbay. A 159% increase in efficiency. Spread that out across your business which may use dozens or even hundreds of highbays and the savings can be astronomical!
