Consumers living in the Greater Melbourne area have quietly been taking advantage of an unusual partnership between the Victorian Government and Energy Makeovers.
Under the Government’s Energy Saver Incentive scheme, Energy Makeovers has replace halogen downlights with LEDs for over 500,000 Australians since 2009.
The breakpoint for the free upgrade is to have a minimum of eight halogen downlights in your home, running off transformers compatible with the new LED lights. If you meet these criteria, the replacement upgrade (of every halogen in your home) is free, underwritten for Energy Makeovers by the State Government.
And with every 10 halogen replacements saving an average of $250 per year on energy bills, the savings quickly compound.
