India’s polluted cities

An interesting note is Beijing; in the past famously notorious for its poor air quality thanks to pollution, was 57th on the list, which puts all those cities higher on the list in a poor perspective.

The results for the list/graph above are taken from tests of minute particles in the air; “These particles are between 2.5 and 10 microns in diameter, roughly 30 times smaller than the width of a human hair.”

And disturbingly ” Around 80 per cent of the cities and towns where air control is monitored have more pollution than WHO recommends, the organisation found, and on average pollution levels worsened by 8 percent between 2008 and 2013.”
