FREE LED offer extended

Please note: As of 1st February 2023, FREE Lighting upgrades are no longer available for Victorian homes. This is in accordance with the Victorian Energy Upgrades program (VEU).

Our last blog post was a reminder that the free LED upgrade offer that is running throughout Victoria was going to end in June. However, what no one saw coming, yet everyone could have predicted was a spike in Covid-19 cases in and around Melbourne, which led to a temporary lockdown that lasted for 14 days. This meant that Accredited Providers of the services under the VEU program were not able to attend homes and businesses to complete energy efficiency upgrades. It essentially cut the month in half to be able to provide these essential services. To compensate for this, the program has been extended until the end of July 2021.

If you’re interested in an LED upgrade for your home or business then now is the time to upgrade.

For residential properties, there will be a 35% reduction in the number of VEECs per upgrade after 31st July (before the activity is phased out altogether on 31st January 2022). Commercial LED upgrades have already seen a 15% reduction in the abatement factor after March 2021, with a further 33% reduction coming on 31st January 2022 and the full phase-out completed one year later. But, Energy Makeovers will still offer the Free LED Upgrade.

After July 2021, LED Upgrades will still be available across Victoria but they may not be 100% free and after January 2022 they will no longer be subsidized at all. However, Energy Makeovers will still be able to offer FREE LED upgrades until next year. We are the largest participant in the scheme and because of this, have the ability to continue offering this free service.
